Ask-God.ca answers questions about life and the spirit from the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to the information involved.

1. Who we are

Ask-God.ca is a free devotional website run by David Gagnon, Montréal, Québec, Canada. The person in charge of the protection of personal information is David Gagnon, who can be reached at contact@ask-god.ca.

2. What we receive

There are no accounts, and we never ask for your name or email address. When you ask a question, we receive its text, together with the technical data every browser sends (IP address, browser type, time of the request).

3. Why

Only to find the verses that answer it, to protect the service from abuse (a limit on the number of questions per minute and, if enabled, a check that tells people from robots) and to fix errors.

4. Who processes it, and where

  • Cloudflare, Inc. turns your question into a vector with its AI service (Workers AI), so that it can be compared with the verses stored in its vector database (Vectorize). No text is generated, and Cloudflare does not use your question to train models.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. hosts, delivers and protects the site, and counts requests to limit abuse.
  • Google provides the typefaces: your browser downloads them from Google Fonts, whose servers receive your IP address.

These companies may process the data outside Québec and Canada, including in the United States; the laws of the country where the data is processed then apply.

5. What we keep

We do not store your questions or the answers, and we build no profiles. Our host keeps technical error logs, which do not contain the text of questions, for a few days at most. The conversation exists only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it or start a new conversation.

6. Cookies and local storage

No advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics. Your browser’s local storage keeps three preferences on your own device: your language, your light or dark theme, and the fact that you have read the notice shown before the first question. You can erase them at any time in your browser’s settings. If the bot check is enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile processes strictly necessary technical data to tell people from robots.

7. Sensitive information

Questions about faith, health or personal struggles can reveal sensitive information. By sending a question after reading the notice, you agree to its being processed as described here. Please leave out names, contact details and information about other people.

8. Children

This site is not intended for children under 14 without the agreement of a parent or guardian.

9. Your rights

You may ask to access or correct personal information about you, or withdraw your consent, by writing to contact@ask-god.ca; we reply within 30 days. As we store no questions, there is usually nothing to retrieve. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

10. Confidentiality incidents

If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned.

11. Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page, with its date.
